Jordan Lake Water Supply Program

City of Durham Department of Water Management to Host Jordan Lake Water Supply Community Open House Meetings

Posted: 4/14/26

The City of Durham’s Department of Water Management will host two open house public meetings to provide updates on the Western Intake Partnership, specifically the Jordan Lake Water Supply Program. The meetings will include an overview of the proposed Durham Water Treatment Plant to be located at 6903 Farrington Road, adjacent to the City’s existing South Durham Water Reclamation Facility. The Jordan Lake Water Supply Program is a long-term effort to meet the water needs of a growing region. The program coordinates the planning, design, and construction of a new water intakeconveyance system, and treatment plant to withdraw water from Jordan Lake, treat it, and deliver it to Durham and neighboring communities.

Two Community Open House Meetings will be held April 28 and April 30 as follows:

Tuesday, April 28 | 5:00–7:00 PM

Presentations at 5:30 and 6:15 pm
City of Durham Department of Water Management – Compliance Services Facility Training Room
6605 Farrington Road
Durham, NC 27517

Thursday, April 30 | 6:00–8:00 PM

Presentations at 6:30 and 7:15 pm

Chatham Community Library
197 NC 87
Pittsboro, NC 27312

Members of the public may attend at either location, as the same information will be shared at both events. The events will be drop-in style and will include a short presentation to discuss the change of location for the Jordan Lake Water Treatment Plant and several stations to learn more about the project. There will also be a comment station for documenting public feedback.

Join us April 28 or April 30th to learn more about this project to support public water treatment and distribution in Durham!
