Western Intake Partnership Submits Rezoning Application

The Western Intake Partners submitted an application to Chatham County’s Planning Department on November 2, 2023, to rezone the proposed Regional Water Treatment Facility site as Conditional District-Light Industrial, consistent with its proposed use. The formal application comes after an engineering study of the water treatment facility requirements, input from adjacent property owners, a community meeting on the project in July, a presentation to the County Appearance Commission in August, and a site visit in September with a Chatham County Historical Association representative. County staff are in the process of reviewing the application package. Then, the public will have the opportunity to comment on the project at a public hearing; after this, the Planning Board and County Commission will consider the application.
